Dr. Roberto Bermúdez obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Spain, in 2001, where he later completed his PhD in Veterinary Sciences in 2006. He was awarded the Extraordinary Award of Degree and Doctorate.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bermúdez has been actively involved in the Pathology Diagnostic Service of the Faculty of Veterinary (USC) and the University Veterinary Hospital Rof-Codina, where he served as the responsible authority for these facilities from 2006 to 2007.

In 2007, Dr. Bermúdez transitioned into an academic role as a lecturer at the Department of Anatomy, Animal Production, and Veterinary Clinical Sciences (USC). He focused his research efforts within the Unit of Pathology at the Faculty of Veterinary and his body of work includes over 60 peer-reviewed articles, as well as authorship of 150 abstracts and book chapters. He also serves as a member of editorial boards for several specialized journals.

As a partner of the Unit of Pathology at the Faculty of Veterinary, Dr. Bermúdez is extensively engaged in collaborative projects and research contracts with prominent companies. His primary focus lies in the study of various fish diseases, including turbot enteromyxosis, aeromoniasis, rainbow trout gastroenteritis, scuticociliatosis, malformations, flavobacterioses, and viral diseases, as well as development of animal models for biomedical research.
