To Madrid by air

Madrid-Barajas Airport is the biggest airport of Spain, it currently serves at the major gateway to not only for European countries but also around the world. The airport handles around 50 million passengers every year.
The Airport counts 5 terminals, depending on the incoming flight, the terminal can vary.

From Madrid Airport to San Lorenzo de El Escorial
By Car
San Lorenzo de El Escorial is located 68 km from the airport Madrid-Barajas. By car or taxi it would take more or less 50 minutes. However this would cost €100-€130 

By public transport
It is also possible to go by public transport. First Intercambiador Moncloa should be reached.  From the airport a bus or metro can be taken to get to Intercambiador Moncloa, from there bus 661 goes directly to San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

By public transport
From Madrid city center also bus station Moncloa should be reached first, from Intercambiador Moncloa bus 661 goes directly to San Lorenzo de El Escorial. From several parts within the city the Moncloa station can be reached by Metro. Moncloa is the end of the yellow line, line 3 

HOW TO GET AROUND IN MADRID
Public Transport
Madrid has an excellent public transport system consisting of metro, buses, and trains.

Metro: Madrid's metro is fast, efficient, and covers the entire city. There are 12 lines connecting the main attractions and neighborhoods.

Buses: The bus network in Madrid is extensive and can be a handy alternative to the metro, especially at night when the metro is not running.

Cercanías Trains: These trains connect the city center with suburbs and surrounding towns. See this link for map.

By bike

Madrid has several bike rental services and bike lanes, especially in parks and some neighborhoods. The municipal bike-sharing system BiciMAD is a good option for tourists.

Ride-Sharing applications

Services like Uber, Bolt, and Cabify are available in Madrid and can be convenient for shorter trips or when you have luggage.

Taxi

Taxis are easy to find in Madrid, at taxi stands or you can book them by phone.
