Call for Mystery Slide Session for Anatomic Pathology

This year the session is organized as a “second opinion round”: each case will be presented and informally discussed with colleagues in 10 minutes, for a maximum of 8 cases. The topic of the session is open. The case session will be held on Saturday, 2nd of September 2023.

Please consider a submission as a mystery case if you have cases that fit with one of the following situations:
-          diagnostic challenges
-          cold cases
-          “once in a lifetime” cases
-          “I have seen thing you wouldn’t believe” cases

  • The deadline for case submission is June 11th
  • Please send your submissions to session chairs Dr. Elena Riccardi (elena-riccardi@idexx.com) and Prof. Dimitra Psalla (dpsalla@vet.auth.gr) by email with the subject line “(Your name) Second Opinion Round Session Mystery Slide Case Submission” and attach the following:
    • a single PDF document consisting of a summary of the case (250 words maximum) including title, your name, institution, and contact information (e-mail address mandatory), signalment, short history, summary of representative gross and microscopic findings, any additional supporting data, and no more than five good quality images (including histo and/or gross pictures, special stains, immunohistochemistry and any other useful technique such as clonality, EM etc.) that are representative of the lesion

Decisions on cases chosen for the session will be made no later than June 25th and submitters will be informed by e-mail.

If the case is chosen, the submitter must be able to present the case at the ESVP/ECVP meeting in Lisbon on September 2nd, and must be able to send a minimum of 2 H&E-stained glass slides for scanning by July 9th at the following address:

Call for Case Presentation Session for Clinical Pathology

This is a call for cases for the Case Presentation session at the ESVP/ESVCP 2023 Congress.

The case session will be held on Saturday, 2nd of September 2023.

  • The deadline for case submission is June 11th, but priority will be given to those submissions arriving first.
  • Please send two Word files by email to Mariana Serra at mariana-serra@idexx.com:
    • The first file should include the case as an unknown (mystery) case with enough information for the reader to make or suspect the diagnosis. There should be 2-3 questions with the case to guide the reader’s interpretation.
    • The second file should include additional information including diagnosis, discussion and references.
  • Examples of previous cases (unknown and with diagnosis) may be seen on the ESVCP-ECVCP website. A template is also provided.
  • Reduce the size of any photos to 500-700 pixels so they do not take up too much space.
  • The Scientific Committee will give early confirmation to cases excellent enough to certainly be included.
  • Cases do not need to be the first ever but should have a good ‘lesson to learn’ to share with colleagues attending the meeting or reading pdf files of the accepted cases on ESVCP website. This is always fun. Please send in an interesting case to be a part of the action.
  • Please email any questions regarding this session to Mariana Serra at mariana-serra@idexx.com.
