Paola is an Italian veterinary surgeon qualified from the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2002. In 2005 she moved to the UK and, after 3 years in small animal practice, she started a Residency Programme in clinical pathology at the University of Cambridge. She is a diplomate of the American College of Pathologists and a Fellow of the British Royale College of Pathologists.

In 2012, Paola joined Dick White Referrals, a large specialist veterinary hospital in UK, where she remained as a senior clinical pathologist for 9 years. 

In 2020, she moved to Switzerland where she founded the VCO lab. In these years, she participated in several publications and was co-author and co-editor of cytology chapters and a cytology book.
