Helena graduated from the University of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) in Portugal. After a spell of work in Public Health, she undertook two internships in small animal medicine which were followed by a residency in Veterinary Clnical Pathology at the University of Edinburgh (UK) between 2008-11. Helena became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists by examination in 2012 and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology in 2015. She has been working for Axiom Laboratories (part of the CVS group) since 2012 and has a particular interest in cytology and haematology.
