Marjolein van Heerden is Scientific Director Pathology at Janssen R&D, Belgium.
She studied Veterinary Medicine and performed her Pathology Residency at Ghent University and was E.C.V.P. Board certified in 2006.
In 2006 she joined the Janssen pathology group where she contributed end to end to the successful development of drugs; she has a special interest in discovery pathology (mainly oncology and infectious diseases), mass spectrometry imaging, long acting injectables, minipigs and the GI-tract. She has been involved in LAI mechanistic work and safety evaluation since 2012, is core member of Janssen LAI Biopharm Workgroup since 2022 and chair of the 10th ESTP International Expert Workshop on LAIs.
