Dr. Deepa Bandi Rao BVSc, MS, PhD, DABT, DACVP, FIATP

Dr. Deepa Rao has specialized expertise in neurotoxicology and neuropathology, with over 20 years of experience in chemical/drug safety evaluations. Dr. Rao’s work experience includes service as a practicing toxicologist as well as a veterinary toxicologic pathologist within the U.S. government [National Toxicology Program (NTP) at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS); Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) at the Food and Drug Administration (USFDA)] and preclinical contract research. Dr. Rao has over 50 publications, numerous honors and awards, and is frequent participant/speaker on various platforms engaged in regulatory neurotoxicology/neuropathology. She currently serves as a councilor on the executive committee for the Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP) and is active with educational activities with the International Academy of Toxicologic Pathology (IATP).

Dr. Rao currently works as a senior pathologist through Greenfield Pathology Services, Inc conducting primary, peer, and expert reviews for neuropathology evaluations, and consultations for neurotoxicology based regulatory assessments.

Dr. Rao received her veterinary degree (BVSc) from Mysore Veterinary College, India (1992), her doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Oklahoma – Health Sciences Center (2000). She completed her residency in veterinary anatomic pathology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2008). She is certified by the American Board of Toxicology (Dipl ABT), American College of Veterinary Pathologists (Dipl ACVP), and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Toxicologic Pathologists (Fellow, IATP).
