Description

Anja Kipar is Full Professor of Veterinary Pathology and Director of the Institute of Veterinary Pathology at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Before that she was Professor of Veterinary Pathology at the University of Helsinki, Finland, and the University of Liverpool, UK. She has obtained her veterinary degree, her doctoral degree and her habilitation at the University of Giessen, Germany.

Anja Kipar is a veterinary pathologist (DiplECVP) with a main research interest in infectious diseases, and a clear focus on the pathogenesis of viral diseases of veterinary relevance, such as feline infectious peritonitis, boid iInclusion body disease, and malignant catarrhal fever. She also has a keen interest in animal models of human diseases, including zoonotic viral diseases such as COVID-19, and natural animal diseases that mimic their human counterpart, such as feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Anja Kipar is also active in diagnostic pathology, with a focus on forensic veterinary pathology. She has been a member of the CFVP Steering Group since it was first established and is actively supporting training initiatives in the field.
