Ute Bach is a certified veterinary pathologist and studied veterinary medicine at the Justus Liebig University Giessen. After she received her DVM in 1993, she worked five years as assistant in the pathology department of the university. In 1998 she joined Bayer as Toxicopathologist. From 2009 to 2016 she worked as Toxicology Project Manager being responsible for safety assessment of projects from different therapeutic areas. Since 2016, she is heading the Pathology and Clinical Pathology department. She has 24 years of experience with macro-and histopathology of all kind of short- and long-term toxicity studies in rodents (including carcinogenicity studies) and non-rodents. Ute Bach is specialized in female reproductive system and ophthalmology and has a profound expertise in molecular pathology (in situ hybridization). Ute is a member of several INHAND organ-working groups (Female reproductive system, Special senses, Nonrodent Ocular) and of the Global Editorial and Steering Committee (GESC). Since 2020, she is the Chair of the Registry of Industrial Toxicology Animal (RITA) database.
