Description

Sean is an anatomic veterinary pathologist, serving as nonclinical drug safety Therapeutic Area Leader for infectious disease at Merck with a special interest in the determination of adversity in nonclinical toxicology studies and overall risk assessment. Since joining Merck in 2004, he has served in many roles, including leadership of immunohistochemistry and transmission electron microscopy laboratories, group lead for molecular and investigative toxicology, and head of pathology operations. Sean served as a lead pathologist supporting Predictive Safety Testing Consortium (PSTC) rat renal biomarker qualification efforts, chair of PhRMA and PSTC working groups on histopathology practice in biomarker studies. He is a past member/chair of the Society of Toxicologic Pathology Scientific and Regulatory Policy Committee and is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Toxicologic Pathology and journal liaison to the STP SRPC and Tox Path Forum committees.
