Luca Aresu is Full Professor at the Department of Veterinary Sciences, University of Turin, Italy, Coordinator of the European Veterinary Renal Pathology Service (EVRPS), and Director of the Canine Cancer Genomic Atlas. He earned his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Turin in 2004 and completed a PhD there in 2007, in collaboration with the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, with a thesis titled "Study of Inflammatory Kidney Diseases in the Dog", which established his long-standing focus on veterinary renal pathology. From 2007 to 2018, he served as Associate Professor in the Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Food Science at the University of Padua. He is currently Full Professor in Turin, where he also served as Coordinator of the Veterinary Medicine Degree Program. Prof. Aresu has made substantial contributions to veterinary pathology and oncology through more than 160 peer-reviewed publications and numerous presentations at national and international conferences. Since 2015, he has coordinated the European Veterinary Renal Pathology Service (https://evrps.mylav.net/), a centralized platform for renal pathology diagnostics and scientific collaboration. Since 2009, his research has focused on canine cancer, with particular emphasis on its genetic, epigenetic, and molecular basis. He has led several funded projects on the identification of cancer neoantigens and the development of vaccines for canine cancers as translational models for human disease. He is also the director of the Canine Cancer Genomic Atlas, the first comprehensive platform to catalogue genetic mutations in the most aggressive canine cancers (https://caninecancergenomeatlas.org/).
