Host Posthaus graduated from TiHo Hannover in 1995. He then moved to the Institute of Animal Pathology (ITPA) in Bern, Switzerland for a combined residency PhD training. In 1999 he became Dipl. ECVP and obtained his PhD in 2003. Since 2005 he headed the necropsy unit at the ITPA and directed the residency training program. In parallel he has built up a research group on clostridial host-pathogen interaction. Since 2023 he is a full professor at the ITPA in Bern. His main research interest is the interaction of clostridial exotoxins with host target cells.
