Description

Ard Nijhof, DVM, PhD, is Professor at the Institute for Parasitology and Tropical Veterinary Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, and Extraordinary Lecturer at the Department of Veterinary Tropical Diseases, University of Pretoria, South Africa. His research focuses on ticks and tick-borne pathogens, with particular emphasis on tick–host–pathogen interactions, innovative artificial tick feeding systems, and the establishment of in vitro life cycles for tick-borne pathogens. He obtained his veterinary degree and PhD from Utrecht University, the Netherlands, and is a German board-certified specialist in veterinary parasitology. Prof. Nijhof serves as Editor-in-Chief of Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases and has been actively involved in the organization of numerous international conferences and symposia in the fields of parasitology, tropical veterinary medicine, and tick-borne diseases.
