Thomas Forest graduated from the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine, and completed a residency program in veterinary anatomic pathology followed by a PhD in virology at Cornell University. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and a member of the Society of Toxicologic Pathology currently employed as a Distinguished Scientist by Merck (MSD) Research Laboratories in the Department of Nonclinical Drug Safety. He conducts primary evaluations of GLP nonclinical toxicology studies, represents nonclinical safety on drug development teams, and has a longstanding interest in investigative pathology with focus on image analysis, quantitative assessments, and digital pathology. He is currently leading a project to incorporate artificial intelligence-based automation into the routine nonclinical GLP histology workflow in Merck Research Laboratories.
