Description

Dr Mikala Skydsgaard received her DVM from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1989. In the following 1½ years she was employed by the same university, in the Department of Anatomy. In 1990 Dr Skydsgaard joined Scantox (CRO) to work in the field of toxicologic pathology and from 1991-1993 she attended a postgraduate course in pathology at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Copenhagen (Today part of Copenhagen university). She became Director of Pathology and was employed at Scantox until Dec 2011. From January 2012 she has been employed at Novo Nordisk as a Senior Principal Scientist in the Department of Pathology and Imaging. She has been working with most species during her career but has especially been working intensively with the Göttingen minipig. She has given several lectures at conferences and been involved in publications regarding pathology in the Göttingen minipig and latest in the INHAND project for the minipig. Her latest publication is the chapter “Adipose tissues” included in Haschek and Rousseaux’s Handbook of Toxicologic Pathology, Volume 4.
