With more than 25 years of experience across pharmaceutical and CRO industries, Julie Boisclair is a board‑certified veterinary pathologist shaping the application of evolving analytical and regulatory frameworks in nonclinical safety assessment across therapeutic modalities.
Julie is Head of Digital and Computational Pathology within Preclinical Safety at Novartis, where she leads the evolution of toxicologic pathology in a data‑ and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven era. Her work focuses on large‑scale digitization and ethical AI uses that support scientifically robust and regulator‑ready decisions.
In her current role, she defines and drives the global digital pathology strategy for Novartis Preclinical Safety, spanning whole slide imaging, AI‑assisted workflows, data governance, and human‑in‑the‑loop validation. Her focus is on translating emerging computational pathology tools into fit‑for‑purpose solutions that integrate into nonclinical safety assessment.
Julie co‑leads the IMI BigPicture consortium, one of the world’s largest pathology data and AI initiatives, contributing to the development of regulatory‑relevant digital and AI standards. She is also actively involved in the IHI VICT3R project, advancing virtual control approaches to enable data reuse, reduce animal use, and accelerate drug development.
Across these roles, Julie operates at the interface of pathology, data science, and regulation, with a strong emphasis on governance and responsible adoption of new technologies.
