Dr. Alok Sharma is Senior Director, Global Anatomic Pathology at Labcorp and is based at the company's Madison, Wisconsin, USA site. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and the American Board of Toxicology, and a Fellow of the International Academy of Toxicologic Pathology. Dr. Sharma earned his PhD in Experimental Toxicologic Pathology from Purdue University, where he also completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology. During a fellowship at Eli Lilly and Company, he conducted research on the pathological and genomic mechanisms underlying mesial temporal lobe epilepsy in a rat model, contributing to a greater understanding of this complex neurological disorder.

Dr Sharma joined Labcorp in 2007 and currently leads a global team of anatomic pathologists and scientific support staff. He has co-authored more than 50 publications, including peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and has presented at conferences organized by ACT, ACVP, ESTP, JSTP, JSOT, STP, STPI, IAVP, IATP, and MRC-SOT. He has received Best Paper Awards for five publications from ESTP, STP, and ACT. A recognized neuropathology expert, Dr. Sharma has participated in numerous Pathology Working Groups (PWGs) and has chaired or co-chaired several committees, including the STP Education Committee, STP Newsletter Committee and STP Neuropathology Special Interest Group, and participated in STP Annual Symposium Committee, ESTP Scientific Outreach Committee, and multiple STP working groups, including PNS, DRG, rodent nervous system INHAND, nonhuman primate INHAND, and dog INHAND initiatives.
